Inclusive Education Takes Centre Stage in an Open Theatre Performance in KASU

The Enabling Campuses project ( #encampkasu ) in collaboration with the Initiative for Creative Arts and Development for Disability (ICAD), and the Association of Students Living with Disabilities in KASU, has organized an open theatre performance titled "THE INVINCIBLES".

The performance was conducted by the 400-level students of the Theatre for Development (TFD) course at the Faculty of Arts on Tuesday, 5th September 2023.

It was aimed at articulating the voices of students with disabilities on campus by promoting inclusive education and also shedding light on some of the challenges faced by persons living with disabilities on the campus. As demonstrated during the performance, most of these challenges faced by persons living with disabilities on the campus centered upon the inaccessibility of infrastructures and the negative attitudes of some members of the campus community.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I Musa who was in attendance, began by formally apologizing to the community of persons living with disabilities in the KASU campus and also pledged to tackle these challenges head-on.

He reaffirmed his commitment to making KASU a student-centered Institution and vowed to assist in every way possible, especially through the office of the Disability Desk Officer of the University.
