Kaduna State University's Faculty of Management Sciences successfully hosted the 3rd International Conference 2024 on Wednesday, 27th November 2024, themed “Global Challenges on Inclusive Leadership, Environmental Sustainability and Digital Transformation in Management Science.” The event, which attracted scholars, practitioners, and students, tackled pressing issues such as inclusive leadership, environmental sustainability, and digital transformation in management sciences.
In his opening remarks, the Local Organising Committee Chairman, Prof. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, underlined the importance of innovation and collaboration in addressing global challenges. He urged participants to actively engage in the discussions, which he described as vital for promoting societal progress. “Collaboration and innovation are key to addressing the challenges facing management sciences today,” he stressed.
The Vice Chancellor of KASU, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, while delivering his remarks, commended the organizers for a well-executed event. He appreciated the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency, Sen. Uba Sani and other dignitaries present, highlighting their support for the university’s global vision. He also encouraged staff members, particularly from the Faculty of Management Sciences, to explore international opportunities such as collaborations to broaden their academic and professional horizons.
The Principal Private Secretary to the Governor of Kaduna State, Prof. Bello Ayuba, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of Kaduna State Residents Identity Management Agency, Dr. John Danfulani, delivered a powerful keynote address, stressing the role of inclusive leadership in promoting equality. Drawing from his personal ties to KASU, he stated, “Without inclusive leadership, problems will arise everywhere,” urging participants to remain steadfast in their pursuit of knowledge.
The Chairman of the Occasion, the Honourable Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alh. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, represented by Mal. Alhassan Ahmed, the Provost of the College of Communications, Social and Management Sciences, Prof. Gimba Victor Kyari, represented by Prof. Ayodele Joseph praised the conference for addressing timely global issues. They highlighted the role of interdisciplinary research in solving complex problems and called on participants to make actionable recommendations.
The Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr. Rahilatu Ahmed Muhammad, expressed her delight at the event's success and emphasized the faculty’s dedication to promoting academic and professional growth. She also reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to ensuring that the outcomes of the conference translate into impactful contributions to management practices globally.
A highlight of the conference was Prof. Jafaru Abdullahi Bambale's presentation on inclusive leadership. He stressed the need for self-awareness among leaders, explaining how it enhances decision-making and fosters respect for diversity. Addressing the underrepresentation of Black individuals in senior corporate roles, Prof. Bambale called for proactive recruitment strategies and accountability measures to close the inclusion gap.
Breakout sessions and panel discussions delved into topics ranging from sustainability to digital transformation, providing a dynamic platform for participants to share insights and explore solutions. The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to continue dialogue and collaborative efforts to address the complex challenges facing management sciences today.
The 3rd International Conference 2024 not only reaffirmed KASU’s dedication to global engagement but also underscored the role of academia in driving inclusive and sustainable solutions for a better future.
