KASU and NNRA Join Forces in Nuclear Innovation and Education, signs MoU.

In a significant development, the Kaduna State University (KASU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) to collaborate on capacity building in the nuclear field and other related matters.

The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, 9th July 2024 at the NNRA headquarters in Abuja, with the Director-General of NNRA, Dr. Yau Usman Idris, and the Vice-Chancellor of KASU, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, signing on behalf of their respective organizations.

The purpose of the MoU is primarily to explore opportunities to develop, promote, and enrich research activities, education, and training programs in nuclear science, radiation safety, as well as other areas of mutual interest that will be beneficial to both parties.

The agreement also includes provisions for the exchange of training programs, joint research projects, conferences, workshops, internships, and the sharing of resources and expertise.

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Yau Idris buttressed the importance of building capacity in nuclear science and technology. He stated that the MoU marks an important milestone in the nuclear world and expressed his hope for a great partnership to advance knowledge that will address global nuclear challenges. Dr. Idris also encouraged the institution to consider adopting courses related to nuclear and radiation protection to enhance the effectiveness of the MoU.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musa, expressed KASU's eagerness for the partnership, stating that it is expected to lead to groundbreaking research and innovative solutions in various fields, shaping the future of education and research in nuclear technology globally.

This collaborative effort between KASU and NNRA underpins the University's commitment to advancing scientific research and education in cutting-edge fields, with the potential to contribute significantly to the development of Nigeria's nuclear technology capabilities.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Strategy,  Innovation and Service Delivery, Prof Helen Afang Andow, the Registrar, Barr Samira Balarabe, Director University Advancement Mal. Usman Tabari and the SA to the VC on Business Development, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi.
