In line with the current strategic plan for repositioning the University as a world-class centre of learning, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa has initiated the sensitisation and training of staff and students on synchronous and asynchronous learning (e-learning and blended learning).
Hundreds of staff and students are currently attending a workshop facilitated by Dr Fatima S. Kabir who is the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Education (Undergraduate) as well as the Coordinator, e-learning and assisted by Halima Usman from the university library.
Synchronous learning refers to all types of learning in which learner(s) and instructor(s) are in the same place, at the same time, for learning to take place This includes in-person classes, live online meetings when the whole class or smaller groups get together.
Asynchronous learning is a student-centred teaching method widely in online learning. Its basic premise is that learning can occur at different times and spaces particular to each learner.
