KASU to partner with Zenith Bank Plc

In a recent development, the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, hosted a team from Zenith Bank Plc to explore a partnership on student registration and enhance opportunities for the university community.

The branch head of Zenith Bank in Kaduna, Polycarp Ajunwa, highlighted the purpose of the visit as fostering collaboration for the best student registration experience. Prof. Musa, expressing the university's eagerness to embark on new partnerships, urged the bank to focus on sustainability, excellence in marketing, and brand preference to appeal to the psychology of customers.

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the university's commitment to providing necessary support for a mutually beneficial collaboration. A significant highlight was Zenith Bank's generous donation of thousands of folder files for students at the university.

KASU and NIGCOMSAT Forge Strategic Partnership for Technological Advancements

In a significant step towards enhancing technological capabilities, the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, recently welcomed the leadership of Nigeria Communication Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) to explore collaboration opportunities in his office.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Jane Nkechi Edehen, emphasized the organization's commitment to leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for societal solutions, particularly in the education sector. The focus of the collaboration revolves around broadband services, addressing internet connectivity needs for various purposes such as learning, office services, and research support.

Prof. Musa expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting the non-negotiable role of technology at the university. He underscored how technology aligns with the university's five strategic plans, including excellence in learning, research culture, community engagement, a student-centred approach, and physical infrastructure development. The recent launch of E-learning, E-Data Laboratory, and plans for a virtual office further align with NIGCOMSAT's objectives.

The meeting delved into a robust discussion with the NIGCOMSAT team engaging Mr. Martin Sambo, the Acting Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology at the University. Recognizing the potential synergies, both institutions agreed on another scheduled session to explore specific areas of interest, focusing on internet connectivity and telecommunication engineering programmes, among others.

The NIGCOMSAT delegation, led by Mrs. Jane Nkechi Edehen, included key figures such as Haj. Samiya Hassan Usman, Head of Strategy & Change Management; Engr. Kaduna State University Alumni holds maiden reunion and award ceremony.

The Kaduna State University Alumni-KASU ALUMNI has held a reunion and award ceremony for outstanding people supporting their association at the main campus of the institution.
In his opening remarks, the National President of the Alumni, Abdulhadi Abdullahi welcomed members for the maiden event. He thanked the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the the University, Mal. Hussaini Dikko for advisory role and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa for his support. 

The President said the aim is to reposition KASU ALUMNI to global standards through partnership in the areas of scholarship for students and infrastructure development. He was delighted to announce the hosting of the 2nd Quarter Delegates Conference of the Alumni Association of Nigerian Universities soon and the coming of the annual general meeting at the end of the year.

In his goodwill message, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, KASU, Husseini Dikko congratulated the Alumni and expressed gratitude for their partnership in the transformation drive of the University.
Guest Speaker and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Yusha'u Ango delivered a lecture with the title” Empowering the Next Generation: The Strategic Role of Alumni Associations in Fostering Entrepreneurship in Turning Students into Job Creators “. He explained that skills and experience are needed but creativity and innovation with leverage on technology are key to economic sustainability.

The Special Guest, Her Excellency, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Barr. James Kanyip commended the Alumni for such initiative and collaboration effort towards the development of the University to confront unemployment among graduates. Kanyip said this is in line with the State’s Government Human Capital Development plan.

In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa said he is proud of the strategic initiative of the Alumni. He assured them of the digital transformation of the University to meet the 21st century global standard. He added that e-learning, and sanitation among others had already been launched in that regard.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to people who are contributing in different spheres of life to societal development.

Kaduna State University Center for Executive Training programme organizes a workshop for officers of Kaduna State Local Government Councils.

The Center for Executive Training Programme, Kaduna State University has organized a workshop for officers of  Kaduna State Local Government Councils with the theme: “ Enhancing Productivity in Kaduna State Local Government Authorities: A Strategic Approach”.

Declaring the workshop open, the Chairman of Kaduna State Local Government Service Commission, Prof. Aminu Ladan appreciated Kaduna State University as its major stakeholder in their partnership. He commended the Vice Chancellor for the introduction of the collegiate system, e-learning, improving physical infrastructure, and landscaping among others.
The Chairman added that one of the mandates of the commission is to uplift the capacity of its staff through educational and professional development. He urged the participants to take advantage of the workshop to add value to their responsibilities.

Lead Presenter and former Vice Chancellor of the University,  Prof. Muhammad Tanko expressed gratitude for the opportunity to deliver their wealth of expertise. He urged the University to key in staff of the commission in their e-learning system.   
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa said the two institutions share a common feature of value for excellence. He pointed out that the presenters are of reputable recognition both nationally and internationally. Also, he stressed the pursuit of talent for a value system is for the best of all.

To this end, the Vice Chancellor granted the earlier request to allocate quota for the staff of the commission in the E-learning and went further to approve a waiver to that effect.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Registrar, Barr. Samira Balarabe, Bursar, Hajiya Hauwa Dalhat, and Acting Director of University Advancements,  Alh. Usman Tabari. 
While, members of the Commission included Permanent Commissioners, Alh. Muhammad Aliyu,  Alh. Mahmud Zailani and Mrs. Cecilia Musa as well as the permanent secretary, Ibrahim Sanusi.

Achieving a student-centered university as Vice Chancellor receives Leadership of NANS.

The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa received the leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Students- NANS in his office on 16th January 2024.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Dauda introduced the delegation of executive and legislative arms of the association.
In his address,  the NANS President, Chibuzor Pedro Obi expressed support to the Vice Chancellor for his student-centered approach in the university and lauded the leadership of his open-door policy.
Furthermore, Obi pleaded with the Vice Chancellor to consider absorbing heads of student union government into the workforce after graduation. 

Giving his goodwill message, the Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Tukur Abdulkadir urged the union leaders to take the opportunity of their power to discharge responsibility justly.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor,  Prof. Musa welcomed the entourage to the institution. He reiterated his commitment to improving a student-centered university, adding that one of such is converting lecture theatre to solar power for a conducive atmosphere of learning that will be replicated in classes.
Prof. Musa further stressed that plans are underway to introduce affordable laundry and catering services for students to access. Also, he described the KASU Students Union president, Abubakar Adoka, as an unusual leader with demeanor value.

The Vice-Chancellor in a surprised response offered placement for the NANS President upon completion of his doctoral studies.

Kaduna State University and SMEDAN to collaborate on a skills acquisition training center.

The Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa received a delegation of Small and Medium-scale Enterprises Development Agency- SMEDAN for partnership on a skills acquisition training center in his office on Monday, 15th January 2024. Facilitator and Chairperson of Kaduna State Pension Bureau, Prof. Salamatu Isa said the purpose of SMEDAN is to access entrepreneurship facilities in the university to assign it the status of a center for the agency in bridging the skills acquisition training and award grants to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises particularly in the northern part of the country.

In his remarks,  Prof. Musa welcomed the initiative of the SMEDAN in streamlining its activities towards universities. He assured the delegation of meeting the requirements given the various entrepreneurship skills already put in place by the institution.

To this end, he directed for tour of facilities for assessment by the team. The delegation comprising Prof. Salamatu and Technical Assistant to the Director-General, SMEDAN, Adamu Barde Abubakar was conducted around by the Supervisor of the skills center, Bilques Yusuf who showed them various skills that included salon, tailoring, ICT, shoe making, restaurant, make-up, culinary arts and bakery among others.

In their submission, Prof. Salamatu expressed satisfaction with the skills on the ground for the beneficiaries. While Barde said he was impressed with the track record of all its activities. Barde added that the skills are part of SMEDAN's guiding principle of outreach.

In conclusion, the Vice Chancellor reiterated the university's strategic plan for community engagement in line with the philosophy of business process redesign.

KASU bolsters research culture through collaboration with the AMA Foundation and the University of Indonesia to set up a stem cell laboratory.

The Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa received a delegation of the AMA Foundation and the University of Indonesia on stem cell laboratory partnership in his office on Wednesday, 10th January 2024. 

Introducing the delegation, the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Prof. Abdullahi Abba, said in line with the strategic development plan of the college, it is excited to receive such an important team to the University. 

Lead Partner Consultant of AMA Foundation, Prof. Abdulsalami Nasidi said the initiative is to contribute to offering affordable medical treatment that is difficult to access by people.

In his presentation, the University of Indonesia team lead, Prof. Ari Syam expressed readiness for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be developed in a stem cell laboratory center to provide research and training as well as treatments for sickle cell,  Glaucoma, and spinal injuries among other lingering ailments.
 
Furthermore, the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to Indonesia, His Excellency, Usman Ogah explained that as a beneficiary of such treatment, he saw the need to extend the services to the country.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed the delegation, assuring them of the university’s full support of the groundbreaking partnership. 
Prof. Musa added that their goal is in line with his administration's strategic plan on five focal areas which include achieving excellence in teaching, instilling a research culture, community engagement, improving physical infrastructure, and a student-centered university.

He explained that the University has seven laboratory centers among which are data analytical and mosquito centers all geared towards uplifting higher education research.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked Indonesia University for choosing KASU, AMA Foundation for their philanthropy, and the Ambassador for his passion for the stem cell project.

The team from the University of Indonesia which is their first visit to Nigeria and Africa included Dr. Rahyussalim, spinal surgeon, Radiana Dhewayni, biomedical scientist, and Tri Kurniawanti, laboratory scientist.

Other visitors from universities across the country with stem cell centers include Abdulrahman Idris, Lawal Baba, and Dawoud Usman from Yobe State University, Suleiman Yusuf- ATBU Bauchi, Yakaka Bulama, and Hamra Musa- UMTH, Borno.

While, those in attendance from KASU included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Yusha'u Ango, Registrar, Barr.
