Vice-Chancellor’s Christmas Message

The Vice-Chancellor, of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa on behalf of the Council, Management, Senate, Staff, and Students wishes to congratulate the Christian faithful on the occasion of Christmas being celebrated to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. 

He enjoined them to take the opportunity of this period that preaches Love, joy, and hope to reflect on their lives for a good cause. 
The Vice-Chancellor also called on them to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of the University, Kaduna State, and Nigeria at large.

KASU-VC defends the 2024 budget at the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

On Thursday, the 21st of December 2023, the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, defended the 2024 budget estimate before the House Committee on Education at the Assembly complex.
Chairman of the Committee, Barr. Mahmoud Lawal said the deliberation is part of the oversight function of the Legislature to take submission for addition, reduction or adjustment.

In his submission, Prof. Musa made a request for the provision of expenditure for two new programmes namely; Engineering and Law to facilitate their seamless takeoff. This shows commitment to achieving excellence in teaching, research culture, and improving physical infrastructure among the focal areas of the university's strategic plan.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Bursar, Hajiya Hauwa Dalhat, and the Deputy Registrar (Establishment), Dr. Obadiah Joshua.

Kaduna State University launches E-learning in the institution.

Kaduna State University (KASU) launched its E-learning platform on Monday, 11th December 2023 at the Nasir el-Rufa'i 1000 lecture theatre. 
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Malam Hussaini Dikko said the upgrade in learning driven by technology is part of its contribution to the development of society.

The Guest Speaker,  Prof. Hassan Adamu Zoaka in a presentation via Zoom introduced what E-learning is, its justification, benefits, challenges, deployment scenario, and future trends.

Dr. Fatima Kabir, Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor on E-learning, and her team made a PowerPoint virtual class demonstration on how to access the University’s E-learning. The platform was officially launched by Prof. Sani Bello, the Commissioner for Education Kaduna State. He congratulated the University’s strive to make learning easy for lecturers and students.

Giving their goodwill messages, the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli represented by Bunun Zazzau, the District Head of Doka, Alh. Bala Mohammed commended the university for the giant stride, while, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Muhammad Bashir Ali assured readiness to embrace the new technology. 

In his vote of thanks, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa said E-learning is non-negotiable having taken a participatory approach in almost a year to develop the easy access and simple-to-learn technological method for the benefit of lecturers and students of the institution.  

Decorations of invited guests and principal officers as E-learning champions marked the end of the event.

Consolidating Community Engagement through Collaboration with Gender Base Violence Organisation- 24th Mubaak Community.

The Vice-Chancellor, of Kaduna State University,  Prof Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa has received a Gender Base Violence Organisation, 24th Mubaak Community in his office. Chairperson of the group, Hajiya Shafa'atu Jafar said the purpose of their visit is to seek partnership with the University in many ways among which is to establish a desk office. 

A presentation by their Planning officer, Mal. Isa Isa was made on Mubaak's website showcasing end-to-end encryption of the site's confidentiality on the victims, attorneys, medical reports, suspects, and police reports. 

In his remarks, Prof. Musa welcomed the group. He said their vision is in line with that of KASU in putting smiles on the faces of people through community engagement. 
The Vice-Chancellor said an initiative to protect female students especially those in the hostel from all sorts of gender violence is under way given the fact they constituted a significant number in the student population. To this end, Prof. Musa asked them to forward their requests in the form of a proposal to be deliberated upon.

In attendance was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Strategy, Innovation, and Service Delivery, Prof. Helen Andow. While, the 24th Mubaak had a Financial officer, Habibu Yahaya, an Administration officer,  Umar Mohammed, and Operations Officer, Ahmad Mohammed.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences administers 7th oath-taking and induction to graduates.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kaduna State University on Thursday 14th December administered Oath-takin and Induction to the graduates at the Nasir el Rufa'i 1000 lecture theatre of the main campus. 

In his opening remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa celebrated with the graduates. He said they deserved to thank God for the journey of achievement in the last five years of their study.
Prof. Musa added that the University invested resources and time in the purchase of chemical reagents for practical, payment of salaries and infrastructure to the tune of tens of millions of naira to train a pharmacist. He urged the graduates to be useful wherever they find themselves.

In his speech, the Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Musa Garba congratulated the supplementary graduands on such a historic moment in their lives. He expressed his gratitude to the Senate, management, and staff for their support in recording another success of graduating 22 pharmacists. Dr. Garba said the faculty will from the next session commence the Doctor of Pharmacy and Postgraduate programmes.

Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria- PCN, Ibrahim Bababshehu Ahmad represented by the PCN Northwest Zonal Office, Pharm. Olabisi Obisesan before administering the oath-taking and induction, felicitated with the graduands. She said this is their first phase of registration with the council and approves guidelines and regulations of the profession. Pharm. Olabisi enjoined the graduates to be of high ethical standards in the discharge of their duties. 

Goodwill messages came from the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategy, Innovation and Strategy and Service Delivery, Prof. Helen Andow, Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Prof. Danladi Amaza, Director, Pharmaceutical Services, Pharm. Isa Abubakar, Chairperson, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter, Sunday Okoh, Representative of the parents of the graduates, Sunday Yero and Chairperson, Association of Lady Pharmacists, Pharm. Josephine Bilyock among others. 

The award for the best female graduating student was given to Zainab Sanusi and an honorary award to the graduating students for their commitment and dedication during their studies.

Federal Ministry of Education and National Universities Commission arrives at KASU for verification exercise.

Kaduna State University has received two teams simultaneously from the Federal Ministry of Education on staff/student ratio verification and the National Universities Commission (NUC) resource verification for the Logistics and supply chain management programme on Tuesday, 12th December 2023 in his office.

The NUC team leader, Prof. Callistus Chukudi Ibe said he was impressed with the effort of the university despite being a state-owned institution. He commended the relevant up-to-date materials in the library for the logistics and supply chain management programme and gave an approval rating. 

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa,  assured the team that the university has taken the recommendations seriously to achieve excellence in teaching. He said talent and resources were invested in the journey with the cardinal principle of building talent.

Also, the Vice-Chancellor sought partnership with the team in the form of a sabbatical or visitation for staff. 

Earlier, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Innovation and Service Delivery, Prof. Helen Afang Andow thanked the staff and student ratio verification team. She said the academic staff are keen on the need assessment. 

With regards to the resource verification, Prof. Andow said the university is open to their eagle-eye comment and observation, assuring them of implementing it.

In attendance from the Federal Ministry of Education were Deputy Director, Hannu Simon, an Assistant Director, Mrs Shaka and Ekojie Yetunde. 

While, Hayatu Umar and Musa Alkali Usman came from the Directorate of Academic Planning, NUC. 

Attendees from the university included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Muhammad Bashir Ali, Director of Academic Planning, Dr Auwal Farouk Abdulsalam, Staff of Academic Planning, the Honourable Commissioner of Sports Development, Kaduna State, Prof. Benjamin K. Gugong, Dr Nuraddeen Miko and other staff of the Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management. 

 

More accolades for Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa as the Nigeria Environmental Society awards him for the sustainable environmental programme.

The Nigeria Environmental Society, Kaduna State Chapter has honoured the Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa for his contribution to environmental sustainability in the sector.
Executive Secretary of Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, Prof. Yahaya Saleh represented by the Director, Research and Linkages, Jalaludden Mu'azu gave the award to Prof. Musa on 12th December, 2023 in his office. 

He said the board developed a transformation scheme where a scholar and beneficiary of foreign scholarship are posted for a two-year engagement in their field for the benefit of the society. This made it possible in the environmental sector to develop tree-planting campaigns in state-owned institutions. Mu'azu added that the board has about nineteen scholars from the university. 
  
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa thanked the society for such honour. He said the university has already commenced a green project for a sustainable environment.
Also, Prof. Musa requested the list of the beneficiaries who will be put into a cohort as change agents in the institution. 
 

Geography Department honours Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa for unwavering support to course.

On November 11, 2023, Head of Geography Department led by Dr. Rikici B. Atiyong awarded Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, the Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, for his contributions and support to the field of study in his office.
Prof. Musa expressed gratitude and affirmed his commitment to further enhance research culture  which is in line with the administration's strategic plan in elevating the university to a world-class institution.
