Stakeholders' Engagement and Collaboration on Top KASU Agenda

One of the focal points of Kaduna State University is to provide excellent community service which is why the university constantly seeks collaborations and partnerships with individuals, agencies etc. 

Against this backdrop, the Management met with a former Force Commander of the United Nations/African Union Hybrid Force, and former Nigeria's Chief of Army and Defence Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai, CFR at his residence on Friday, 21st July 2023.

Discussions bothered on the importance and value of partnering in the areas of community services, mentoring, thinking outside the box, research and attracting funding through donations from individuals, corporate organizations and international agencies. 

The sole purpose is to reposition KASU to become a leading 21st-century university in the world. 

The host, Gen. Agwai appreciated the visit and commended the vision, goals and objectives of Management and committed to providing the needed support for the university to thrive. 

The team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa had in attendance the Registrar, Samira Balarabe, Esq, the Director, Centre for Procurement, Dr Nuruddeen Usman Miko, Deputy Director, University Advancement, Mallam Usman Tabari and the University Public Relations Officer, Adamu Nuhu Bargo.

The Management of Kaduna State University visit Galaxy Backbone Tier4 Data Centre Kano

In line with the Kaduna State University’s vision to leverage technology and transform the University to a world-class standard in terms of information technology adoption, usage, and visibility, the management honoured the invitation of the coordinator and visited Galaxy Backbone Regional Data Centre in Kano. The purpose was for the management of Kaduna State University to visit the recently commissioned Tier4 Regional Data Center Infrastructure and explore areas of partnership in  Information and Communication Technology Services.

The regional coordinator received the Kaduna State University team and held a strategic meeting during which an overview of Galaxy Backbone was presented. The Regional Manager on behalf of the Director General stated that the newly commissioned modular facility in Kano is the only Data Center of its kind in the whole of the country and the African sub-region at large. He took the Kaduna State University delegation on a tour of the facility and stressed their readiness to provide services ranging from High-Speed Broadband Connection irrespective of the medium, Cloud Hosting Services, Structured Cabling, on-site server hosting and management, and general high-tech ICT Consultancy Services. 

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his team and assured Galaxy Backbone of Kaduna State University’s interest to partner in a way that mutually benefits both parties. Professor Abdullahi I Musa emphasized ICT as the top of his agenda to turn around Kaduna State University and specifically requested the deployment of an interim internet Solution to support the upcoming launch of the Kaduna State University eLearning Platform. The Vice-Chancellor commended the Federal Government and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy for such a project and enjoined the managers to leave off to the vision of those that sited the project and manage it professionally.

Other members of the Kaduna State University delegation are Professor Hauwa’u E. Yusuf, Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor on Research Culture, Dr Muhammad Aminu, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology,  Mallam Muazu Idris, Director of Information and Communication Services, and Mallam Abdulazeez Aliyu Idris, SA to the VC.

Nigeria’s microbial potentials will address hunger, insecurity – NSM

The Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM) has said that Nigeria should properly harness its microbial resources in addressing hunger, insecurity and environmental challenges.

The President of NSM, Prof. Mohammed Yerima said that during the Nigerian Society for Microbiology, North-West Symposium held at the Kaduna State University (KASU) on Tuesday, 11th July 2023.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, urged the participants to push for the adoption of the transformative power of microbiology for a healthier, sustainable, and prosperous Nigeria.

Musa, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Yusha’u Ango, urged the participants to unveil the hidden potentials of the “microscopic wonders” and the positive impact they could have on humanity.

He urged students of the KASU to be innovative, and entrepreneurial to be self-reliant given the high level of unemployment in the country.

KASU and RUDN University organise Capacity Building Masterclasses

As part of a collaborative initiative between Kaduna State University, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies and RUDN University, Russian Federation, a Capacity Building Masterclass for Graduate Students has been organized. 

The capacity building which took place on Monday,  3rd July 2023 at the University's main library complex had Dr Mustapha Muhammed Jamiu, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication,  RUDN University as the resource person.

The presentations were in two phases with Writing Research Proposal and Preparing Academic CV in the first phase. 

The second phase of the presentation was in Writing Motivation Letters and Media Literacy Skills. 

The Vice-Chancellor of KASU,  Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa said the capacity building offers an opportunity for interaction between the resource person and students, he encouraged participants to listen with keen interest and contribute meaningfully.  

He told participants of his interest in the area of research and gave tips on writing a good and compelling research proposal.

The programme had in attendance the University Librarian, Dr Babangida Umar Dangani, Provost of the College of Social and Management Studies, Prof. Yushau Ango, the Director of University Advancement, Prof. Bashir Ali, SA to the VC on Digital Transformation and Disruptive Technology, Prof. Peter Ayuba, other senior academics, staff and students and journalists from various media organizations.

Nigerian Association of Health Educators proposes collaboration while on a visit to KASU

During a visit to Kaduna State University, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa played host to the Kaduna State Chapter  Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Health Educators, Dr Ahmad Sani Getso and his team on Wednesday, 5th July 2023.

In his welcome remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed the University's appreciation to the visitors for the opportunity to engage in a formal discussion. 

He disclosed that the administration's goal is to transform KASU into a world-class university in four focal areas, namely; Teaching and Learning Excellence, Research Culture, Community Engagement/Service, and Revenue Generation.

He emphasized the fact that KASU has a robust strategy to improve human lives and better a lot of society as it has health education on top of its agenda. 

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman stated that the State Chapter of the  Association which was established in 2019 has been following the University's track record of excellence and desires to collaborate to tap from its wealth of experience. 

He added that the association is requesting the establishment of a department or a centre for health education in KASU.
